Klaus Heinecke, Editor, born 1975 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In 1998, at the age of 23, he was fortunate enough to find employment with Bech Film and Tju-Bang Film – two independent Danish film companies. There, he worked closely together with some of Denmark’s most innovative and progressive editors, mainly Jacob Thuesen (editor of “The Kingdom” + Director of “Accused” - Winner of the Fassbinder Prize at the European Film Awards 2005) and Tómas Gislason (Editor of “The Element of Crime” - directed by Lars Von Trier), but also Anders Refn (“Dogville,” “Breaking the Waves”), and Pernille Bech Christensen (editor of the “The Monastery,” Winner IDFA, 2006).

His trainee time with Anders, Pernille, Jacob and Tómas was similar to undergoing boot camp training, wax on wax off! For more than two years Klaus worked 24 hours a day, slept under the editing table, lost weight, lost his girlfriend, and eventually his apartment. Despite these setbacks, Klaus got to collaborate in the creative editing and to his surprise, scenes of his own ended up in the critically acclaimed and award winning feature-films "Maximum Penalty" (2000) and "Point of View" (2001). After working with them there was no going back, especially as he was crashing at Tómas' house since he had no place to stay.

Alongside assisting on other feature-films, Klaus also started working independently as an editor, but kept in contact with his mentors, who guided him on his own projects – short films, commercials and documentaries.

Although Klaus was in the process of successfully establishing himself as a freelance editor, he chose to pursue his dream of working independently on larger-scale films with complex narratives by choosing to enroll at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in England. There, he trained under Larry Sider and Asher Tlalim and graduated with a Royal College of Art MA degree in editing and was additionally awarded the Christie Prize for most outstanding student of the year (2005).

His recent film work has been part of the programme at numerous key festivals winning awards and nominations and Klaus has been selected for the Berlinale Talent Campus twice, Campus#3 and #4, 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The short film “True Colours” 2006, starring Neil Maskell (“Football Factory,” “It's all gone Pete Tong”) and directed by Barney Elliot, was selected and nominated for numerous festivals, and won the Special Jury Prize and ‘Best Male Actor’ award at Angers, France; Best Male Actor Expression at Corto, Mexico 2007. It furthermore awarded the Young Jury Prize and the ‘Best Actor’ award in Brussels IFF '07, and has been selected for The Rencontres Internationales 2007 in Madrid, Berlin and Paris. The director of "True Colours" has now been accepted with his feature-project for the prestigious Cannes-run programme Cinefondation.

In 2006 and 2007, Klaus has been working in both the United Kingdom ( Aardman Animations, Passion Pictures, Arcane Pictures) and Denmark ( Nordisk Film, Cosmo). In the UK he has been working with award winning director Lucy Walker (Blindseight, Devil's Playground) on her "The Untitled Pow-Wow Project" 2007, Stink signed director Yann Demange and Bafta Nominated animation-director Monika Forsberg on her latest shortfilm "Webelieveinhappyendings" 2006. He has also been cutting a promo for the Sheffield indie band Harrisons, with London-based, Libanon-born, Danish-raised director Mahdi Fleifel.

In Denmark Klaus has been editing 2 comedy-series for the Dansh National Brodcasters TV2 & DR2: 'Tak for i aften' (8x24 minutes produced by Nordisk Film, 2007), and 'Tjenesten' (3x24 minutes produced by Respirator, 2007). Both series have been nominated for Best Comedy of the Year at The National TV Festival of Denmark, 2007, and “Tjenesten” was the winner). In September 2007, Klaus cut the danish TV Drama series “Forbrydelsen” into feature length episodes for European Distribution. In january and february 2008 Klaus cut an episode of the danish TV drama "Summer”
